Runic Roast exists to make reliable, delicious coffee that helps people do things they care about - on the trail, at the shop, or around the table. Every bag you buy also helps us fund projects we love in our communities.

How We Roast

Every bag of coffee is roasted after it is ordered - small batches, roasted to order - so your coffee ships fresh instead of sitting in a warehouse. Orders are often packed and shipped the same day they’re roasted, meaning that it arrives at your door at the peak of flavor.

Why that matters:

  • Freshness by design. We roast after you order, never in advance.
  • Consistency you can taste. The same profiles, week after week, across brew methods.
  • Less waste. No stacks of pre-printed bags or stale inventory.

You’ll sometimes see “pre-shipment” on tracking while your coffee is queued for roasting. That’s normal - and it shows that your order is about to go into the roaster before packing and shipping, just for you!

Packaging With Purpose

We use practical, durable bags and print labels on demand to cut waste and ensure lower impact on the environment as well as lower cost to you.

Community Impact (what your purchase supports)

We’re serious about doing good close to home. For every 12 oz bag sold, $0.50 is donated to local farm and land-stewardship projects - including Collective Spaces Farm - to nurture food, land, and community. We also put bags and time into:

  • Local coffee shops and pop-ups
  • Community events and creators
  • Hands-on projects that make our towns better

Runic Roast is co-founded by Peter and Fritz - with a passion for entrepreneurship, community, art, and sustainability. You’ll see us sponsoring gatherings, pouring samples, and pitching in where it counts.

What we don’t do

  • No hype health claims. Coffee has real health benefits, but it isn’t a medicine cabinet - we keep it honest.
  • No greenwashing. Our processes focus on sustainability and impact, but they aren't perfect.
  • No smoke and mirrors. We’re proud of our processes, our partnerships, and our impact in the community.

Choose Whole Bean or select Espresso (fine), Drip, or Coarse at checkout. Need help dialing in? Reach out and ask - we will share what we know.

Shipping & freshness at a glance

  • Roast to order: typically 3-5 business days to roast/pack
  • Transit: usually 1-5 business days via reliable carriers
  • Tracking “pre-shipment”: means your bag is in the roast queue
