The Story of Our Sigil
At the center of the Runic Roast Hearthmark is our Runic Roast Sigil, a rune that reminds us that every journey has two sides - the going and the returning. The Hearthmark looks simple at first glance: two mirrored runes, bold and angular, enclosed in a circle. But like a good roast, there’s depth beneath the surface.
The shape is inspired by the ancient Raidō (ᚱ) rune. In early traditions, Raidō meant journey, rhythm, and purposeful movement. It spoke to travel across distances, but also to the inner journeys that shape who we are.
By mirroring the rune, our symbol expands its meaning:
- The Outward Path - fueling the adventures we take into the world, from work and play to exploration and creation.
- The Inward Path - fueling the adventures of reflection, art, story, and quiet moments of renewal.
- Shared Journey - a balance between two halves, representing community, connection, and the power of walking together.

Our emblem is not just a design - it’s a commitment. Because these symbols are ancient and powerful, we have a responsibility to be clear about what they mean to us and to stand against those who have misused them. We know runic symbols have been misused by hate groups, twisted away from their origins into something they were never meant to be. Runic Roast stands against that.
We reclaim this imagery to celebrate what it always was:
- A reminder that life is a journey.
- A call to travel with purpose and joy.
- A symbol of movement, rhythm, and renewal.
And we pair it with a clear promise:

A Symbol for Community

At the top of our sigil, a flame burns within the opening of the circle. This flame carries many meanings at once:

- The Roaster’s Fire - the literal flame that transforms beans and leaves, unlocking their richness.
- The Adventurer’s Torch - a guiding light on the path, fueling courage and exploration.
